Calibration

A required period of time prior to launching a site with Signifyd, used to train the Signifyd models.

Details

The primary goal of the Calibration period is to maximize Signifyd performance at launch, providing you with the best protection possible. The Calibration phase allows Signifyd to confirm the data quality will be consistent with what was seen during testing. In many cases, the staging and live environments have some minor (or major) code differences that will surface during Calibration.

📘

You may see Calibration referred to as 'Burn-in'. This is interchangeable with 'Calibration' and follows the same guidelines.

Calibration length is a minimum of 14 calendar days. Depending on the integration complexity or if complications arise during the initial 14 days, this timeframe can be extended. There is no maximum length for Calibration, however a new site cannot go-live (start Signifyd services and coverage) until Calibration is completed.

Go live is a “timeframe” meaning that Signifyd coverage for approved orders begins and all contracted services activate. This occurs only after Calibration is finished and the manual conversion has been completed by Signifyd Support. In the case an additional storefront is being added to an existing Signifyd account, an account merge action is needed instead of the manual conversion, also completed by Signifyd Support.

In the vast majority of cases, merchants will experience 'General Calibration'. However, in certain circumstances, it is possible to conduct Calibration while live with Signifyd. See the breakdown of each type below.

General Calibration

This is the most common method of Calibration. The merchant begins passing live transactions to Signifyd in their production environment. There is no Signifyd coverage during this period (minimum 14 calendar days).

📘

Note: Shopify & BigCommerce plugins automatically create production environments within the Signifyd console. For setting up test environments, please reach out to your assigned Implementation manager or Support.

Features

  • Live traffic is passed to a production environment
  • Model decisions are generated normally
  • Automated actions (for plugin integrations) are fully functional
  • Webhook / GET calls are not active
  • Trial Case banner remains on each case within the Signifyd console to easily identify Calibration orders
  • Manual Review is deactivated
  • A manual conversion is required to end Calibration (completed by Signifyd Support)

Live Calibration

This method is only used in special situations, all of which require Signifyd's approval in advance. Examples include:

  • There is a need to understand Manual Review rates during Calibration.
  • You are launching a new site with no previous/existing traffic
  • Extreme circumstances
